What is job training?
Job training is when a new or existing employee is required to know a set amount of things to correctly work in the organisation. This may be that they do not have a certain qualification which can be obtained through job training or even something just as basic as knowing how to work an oven. Certain company's do not go through job training as it not a legal requirement, although it is best to proceed with it as this can give vital information that the employee may not already know.
Methods of training
- On the job training
- Off the job training
- Induction training
Most common forms of training
Competitor shops such as 'Subway' and 'Baguette Express' both use on the job training, and because both have a good reputation for their well trained staff, I suggest you strongly consider on-the job-training, as it has quick and easy with very little costs.
How to train staff
If you choose to proceed with On-the-job training, there is a list of proceedures you must first go through.
First, begin by teaching the employee how to bake the bread. Show them the ingredient list as well as where all the ingredients/equipment is located and proceed to show them how to make the dough and bake it. Next, you must show go through each of the sandwich fillings and ensure they know which is which. A final part of on-the-job training, is showing the employee how to work the cash register as well as any components that come with it (ie. credit card reader etc).

Costs of training
For a sandwich shop, the most comon forms of training are induction training and on the job training. These methods are both free, but consume time that could be used with the customers, as well as having to pay the employee for getting little work done. If a company were to send off the employee, they must pay for transportation, accomidation and most importantly, the tutors fees.
